We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Lovich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
There has been a dramatic shift in the administration of healthcare recently. Insurance and number crunchers in the corporate office are making crucial health decisions further and further from the patient who stands to gain and lose the most. Costs are cut by reducing patient-doctor time, packing schedules, passing off to more procedurally trained healthcare workers, and trying to find the best “one size fits all” approach box to fit each patient’s individual condition into.
I opened my office designed to be as efficient as possible using current technology, without ever skimping on patient-doctor interaction time. I wanted to design an entire patient experience around the time spent between the doctor and the patient, and we have seen fantastic results because of it.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Delta S Performance, prides itself on individualized care. Two patients may have the same symptom, but that doesn’t mean the same thing is causing it. We blend high-level training in the arenas of vestibular, visual, cognitive, and physical rehabilitation into a system that can be tailored to each patient’s unique picture of health.
The toughest part from a business perspective, is that we can’t create a system or program that runs itself. We pride in using expertly trained staff and doctors to give patients the best value and the highest chance of receiving a benefit. We also spend more one-on-one time with patients; 2 hours for the evaluation and up to 30 minutes for each in-person rehabilitation session.
Insurance doesn’t cover this and this much individualized time means patients will end up spending more out of pocket up front. We’ve learned that out-of-network benefits may cover our work, however. Our focus is on providing the best possible care with the wisdom, knowledge, and expertise to get patients better.
We want the world to know that we’re about getting results as quickly as possible, and giving you the tools needed to keep yourself at your best.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Denver is one of my favorite cities that I’ve lived in, and in true Denver form, I would get them outside. A bike ride around Sloan’s Lake or Washington Park, lunch up at Wayne’s Smoke Shack, HH bar crawl down Larimer, but most importantly, I would grab take out and finish the day checking out the sunset at City of Kunming Park.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout out to the providers, staff, and “alumni” at Northwest Functional Neurology, in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Dr. Zielinski and company provided an opportunity to learn and develop with the guidance, training, environment, and experience needed to make difficult cases seem straight-forward, and the tools to figure out the toughest cases.
I’d also like to give a shout out to the team at Delta S Performance, whose tireless work ethic allows us to reach for great heights and help our local and regional communities.
